Media evaluation task
What did you find the most
challenging and why?
The most
challenging aspect of this video task was trying to find cast members that
fitted the part best. The hardest character to find was the one who could
accurately replicate Pharrell with confidence. We found that people would say
that they were willing to take part and were available and then at the last
minute they cancelled.
What will you do differently when you
make your A2 product next year?
When I complete
my A2 product I will ask people from my Media Studies group to participate therefore
allowing me enough time to film numerous shots to make the filming effective
and then to edit successfully to a professional standard.
How has doing this task helped you
and why? What have you taken away from this experience?
This task
has helped me by allowing me to quickly realise how swiftly I will need to work
on this and the need for effective time management otherwise I will run out of
time. I need to complete the filming within the first few months allowing time
for editing, analysis, review and peer feedback then any additional filming. I
want it to be the best it can be and to fit the conventions of the genre. I
need to think about representation and the technical codes used.
How successful was your product? Why
do you think it was successful or unsuccessful?
I think that
we managed to get the lip syncing fully in time therefore allowing our music video to be successful.
I believe that the least successful elements of the music video were the lack
of venues resulting in us having to use the green screen. I had to use some
images from Google and these would not fit to the whole size of the video.
How do you feel about developing to
A2 level now you have completed this task?
I feel
prepared with the task which will be useful for next year as I now know what
the timescale will be and the pressures I will face. I have found out more
information about the topic and can be aware of this over the holiday period
when viewing media. I am really looking forward to seeing more how my topic
will develop. It might be useful for me to use a storyboard for preplanning of
shots. That way I can consider connotations, mise-en-scene including props and
location, action, lighting, camerawork plus transitions and editing to work to
produce an aesthetic product which will interest and engage with the audience.
What do you like most/ least about
your final product?
I like the
fact that our lip syncing is in time with the music. I least like the sameness
of the shot distance used and feel that we need greater variety to add further
interest to the target audience.
